If you are unsure about how your heating system works, please call us. You should also have some instructions left in the property which may help.
Normally radiators have their own thermostatic controls which set the temperature for each room, it is a good idea to set this to the middle value, you can then adjust this based on your needs. Remember gas and electricity costs money so keep your bills low by using the following advice:
1. It sounds obvious but if you have your heating on make sure your doors and windows are closed
2. It is cheaper to keep a steady low heat in the house throughout the day and to turn it up when you are in
3. Don’t walk around the house in shorts and flip-flops in the winter; if your feet are cold, your whole body will feel cold, so make a point of wearing socks around the house in the winter
4. Close your curtains at night to help keep in the heat
5. Lower your thermostat; you probably won’t notice a huge difference if you turn it down just a few degrees and you can shave 5 to 10 percent off your gas bill
6. Remember to turn your heating down when leave your house empty for the holidays. Don't turn it off during the winter though, even when you go away for the holidays to avoid having freezing pipes.
